LASER HAIR REDUCTION
Laser hair removal is a quick way to remove unwanted hair and is medically proven to give you permanent hair reduction.
The laser or IPL (intense pulse light) emits a wavelength of light which selectively heats and destroys its target.
The pigment found in hair (melanin) absorbs the light energy, which turns to heat and destroys the hair follicle without damaging the surrounding tissue.
Dark thick hair absorbs more light so it is easier to remove, whereas light fine hair is more resistant to laser removal. Hair follicles can be in one of 3 stages: active growth (anagen), regression (catagen), and resting (telogen).
Only hair that is in active growth will be receptive to laser removal, therefore 2/3 of all hair follicles “escape” destruction during each treatment.
A course of between 6 to 9 treatments will result in a long term stable reduction in hair growth..
PIGMENT REMOVAL
Sun spots, liver spots, freckles and other unwanted pigmentation are often associated with skin ageing and over exposure to the sun or sunbeds. From the age of around 40 the skin is less able to regenerate from sun exposure and age spots start to appear. Generally these age spots pose no health risk, however they can be unsightly and create a patchy, less youthful appearance. Freckling and age spots are successfully lightened or removed with Intense Pulse Light (IPL).
Not all pigmentation concerns are as a result of sun exposure and some people are born with pigmented birthmarks.
Intense Pulse Light (IPL) skin rejuvenation and pigment removal treatment is a relatively quick and easy procedure. Age spots and freckles can be lightened or removed in as little as one to three treatment sessions. The light targets areas of excess pigment safely breaking down the excess melanin. The sun spots or freckles darken in the first few days after treatment and then the excess melanin sheds naturally away.
RED VEIN REMOVAL
Facial thread veins or broken red veins (telangiectasia) are small unsightly superficial red, purple or blue veins that occur around the nose and across the cheeks and chin. These broken veins occur when the vein dilates and become larger so they are visible through the transparency of the skin. Although facial veins / spider veins are quite common they can cause some distress and embarrassment for those who have them.
Facial veins may be hereditary or as a result of a variety of factors including damage from sun exposure, wind and the extremes of temperature. The over use of steroid creams and certain auto immune conditions may also induce thread veins. Often the exact cause is unknown and may just be part of the natural ageing process or as a part of a skin condition called rosacea.
Facial vessels are effectively treated with Intense Pulse Light (IPL) with minimal downtime or risk in just a few quick, easy treatments. We can also treat birthmarks such as port wine stains and vascular scarring.
ACNE
Light is emitted directly targets the sebaceous glands, greatly reducing the total number of break outs. the light stimulates the production of collagen to improve skin texture, scaring and can also reduce the appearance of brown areas of the skin associated with acne breakouts.
Almost everyone can be treated, apart from tanned individuals. if you are pregnant or taking roaccutane, it is best to be off the medication for a minimum of 6 months.
